Paul barely remembers times when he was part of a picture, a memory anchored in his early childhood. Since then, he has found himself outside the frame, a situation he had seemingly resigned himself to. However, everything changes when he meets a man whose appearance and demeanor are anything but ordinary. This man convinces Paul to accompany him to a self-help group called "The Outtakes", a place where those who also find themselves on the fringes of visual narratives gather. Here Paul meets Hanna, the woman who is never out of the picture and in whose presence Paul instantly develops feelings. From this moment on, Paul accompanies Hanna, sharing his moments and images with her in the hope of becoming a part of her world through her contentment. But as time goes by, doubts arise as to whether Hanna is not also dwelling in other images outside of their shared moments and whether a future together in the same setting is even possible. Sophie Linnenbaum's short fiction film [OUT OF FRA]ME skillfully weaves concepts of film language into a story that is deeply rooted in human neuroses and emotional states. Despite its occasionally bizarre and unconventional scenarios, the film manages to unfold a deeply human and touching narrative. Every character, whether in the foreground or background, is drawn with attention to detail and contributes to the depth of the story in their own way.

An entertaining and ambiguous film that illuminates the connection between cinematic art and human experience.
