In 2004, Bruno Adams, the lead singer and guitarist with the Australian-American band Fatal Shore, based in Berlin, was diagnosed with stomach cancer. For the next five years he battled the disease yet continued to write songs and play concerts. On April 18th 2009, he died at home in Berlin, surrounded by his family and close friends. With Bruno’s agreement and participation, the filmmaker Helena Giuffrida recorded the last year of his life in a very realistic style. The film does not hold back or succumb to sentimentality. As Bruno says at one point in the film, “Death is part of my life now”, and he refused to shy away from it.
