The "German Democratic Republic (GDR) children of Namibia", who today are adult, still remember many details of their 11 year long stay in the GDR, whose government accepted them as refugees in 1979. Shortly after the fall of communism in the GDR, which more or less coincided with Namibia gaining its independence, these children returned to their home country – a country to whom they are strangers. Today they continue searching for an inner sense of belonging and stability in their torn biography.
