1939: After the Spanish Civil War the caricaturist Josep Bartoli flees from the Franco regime to France, where the refugees are locked up in camps and left to fend for themselves. They have no choice but to build their own shelters, eat the horses they had ridden out of their home lands, and die by the hundreds for lack of hygiene and water... In one of these camps, two men separated by barbed wire become friends. This debut feature film by cartoonist Aurel skillfully mixes personal stories and history in a powerful narrative composed of magnificent and skillfully animated illustrations, which cleverly show the healing power of drawing.
